This imposing castle was once the family home of the aristocratic Talleyrand-Périgord family. Access to the main coutyard is via a 16th century drawbridge, one of the few working examples of this kind of drawbridge in France. The Renaissance-style architecture of the main living area of the castle is remarkable for its typical 17th century façade. Since late 2011 the castle has been owned by french comedian Yves Lecoq. A guided tour of the castle focuses on the story of the Talleyrand-Périgord family and the castle's rebirth, with details and anectodes from experts of the heritage Association pour la Sauvegarde du Patrimoine de Chalais.
