Boucle vélo n° 34 - Mansle

Français

3 routes are available: Family circuit: 9 km (very easy). Discovery circuit: 26 km (easy). Exploration circuit: 60 km (difficult). Before taking the road along the Charente, don't miss the hundreds of fuchsias in the Jean Pierre Lanson floral park in Mansle, then head for St Groux, a "poacher's village" built in a meander of the Charente on a large peninsula, the kingdom of fishing and nature lovers. After Fontenille and its dolmens of Perrottes, the circuit leads you to Bayers where a discovery of the castle is essential with its square keep, its 17th and 18th century terraces, its covered way and its moat. Then head for Aunac and Moutonneau on the banks of the Charente where the river divides into arms delimiting islands: fords, footbridges and springs to discover. In Mouton, visit the church, a listed historic monument, which contains a carved and painted wooden altar. A few turns of the wheel further on, a visit to the church of Lichères is a must. Situated in a rural setting, this Romanesque church, a former priory founded in the 12th century by the Benedictines of Charroux, has a magnificent façade and a central portal decorated with lions and stags.
