This is a beautiful urban walk that offers exceptional views over the Plateau du Vieil Angoulême and allows you to discover remarkable preserved natural areas in Angoulême, Soyaux, L'Isle d'Espagnac and Gond Pontouvre. From the Comic Strip Museum, go towards the sports fields on the left. Cross the island of Bourgines to the footbridge. Take it. Walk along the bank to the left - beautiful views of the river and the pile, a remnant of the "P'tit Rouillat" railway bridge. Cross the boulodrome and continue opposite, skirting the cemetery. 2. take a path. Route de Paris, turn right to the roundabout. Avenue de la République, pass over two railway tracks to follow the rue du 8 mai 1945 until you reach the rue de la Madeleine à l'étang prolongée which you take to the left. Go up the stairs and continue to the left until you reach the pedestrian crossing. Cross over. Continue to the roundabout, cross over and follow the boulevard for 450m before turning left into a dead end. Turn left at the end and then right into Rue Condorcet. Rue de l'Épargne, go to the entrance of the Mérigots wood opposite. Turn left out of the wood. Go up to the left into Avenue de la République. Cross the road and take the Chemin de Lunesse to the Rue Papin, which you turn left after 200m. Turn right onto the Font Chauvin path - a medieval leper fountain can be seen on the right. Keep to the path and go up the avenue Jean Jaurès. Cross the road and climb the embankment to follow the path under the holm oaks. Turn left at the top and then right. Go straight on until you reach the intersection where you turn right. Leave the path before the houses and walk along them on the left down to the Chemin d'Entreroches which you follow on the left. Leave the path and cross before the bend, pass alongside the houses and continue straight on into the wood. Take the second alley in the wood on the right, turn left at the Bois du Lac crossroads, and continue south to the Espace Matisse. Cross the Rue du Général de Gaulle, continue to the left and go through the gates of a small passageway 100 m to the right. Cross the residence du Verger to arrive at Avenue Pétureau - off course, 50 metres to the right see the Merovingian cemetery and retrace your steps. Turn down Rue de la Belle Aude, then right into Rue de la Fontaine Charlemagne. Go down to the fountain, then take the path in the valley. Go up to the right, along the houses on the ridge and back down to the fountain of the cherry tree. Take the Vreloppe road to the right and at the bend in the road go down to the left onto a small path that leads to the Saint Marc road. Follow it for 500 m to the right - off the route, on the left, is the interpretation trail of the Anguienne Valley and the viaduct. Further down the chemin de la Folie on the left, turn right downhill to walk along the stream. In Rue du Pont de Vinson, turn left and walk along the Anguienne by the sports field. Cross the road to reach Petit Fresquet. Cross the footbridge over the stream and walk along it. After 200 m, leave the valley to go up to the Ma Campagne plateau on the left. Follow the hillside - beautiful views of the Angoulême plateau. Rue du moulin de Grelet, turn right twice. Rue des falaises, go down the path into the combe. Go up the rue de Montmoreau, cross it and go up the stairs on the right that lead to the square. Go right to rue Montcalme, enter the clearing 30m away. Cross the meadow to go down into the Bois de Saint Martin, pass under the voie de l'Europe. Before the crossroads, climb the embankment to cross the orchard, and walk along the stadium. Leave the park, turn right twice, then left onto chemin du Soleil-Levant. Turn left onto chemin des Cressonnières. At the end turn right then left to go under the railway. Go straight on and pass under the road to Bordeaux. Follow a grassy path on the right, rue Bourbonnaise turn left, cross the residence. Rue de Basseau, take the road opposite which goes to the Charente, take the Ile aux vaches on the right and then climb the footbridge from which Corto Maltes scans the horizon. See the Musée du Papier and the interpretation trail on the Ile Marquet.
