Dive into the heart of the 9th art! Created in 1990, the Angoulême Comic Strip Museum is a natural extension of the international festival that has been held there every year since 1974. Like the 9th art form, the museum has evolved over time in terms of the content and the way in which it presents works that retrace almost 200 years of creation. Drawing on a heritage of more than 20,000 original plates and 250,000 printed works from all countries and all styles, the permanent exhibition is undergoing major changes. Between April 2024 and June 2026, an in-depth study will be carried out to ensure that when the work is complete, visitors will enjoy an even richer immersive experience, including new museographic, geographical, cultural, digital and creative approaches. In the meantime, the Musée de la Bande Dessinée will be displaying treasures drawn directly from its vast collections. These works will reveal a wide range of creations from all over the world, as well as a number of iconic objects linked to this art form. A playful treasure hunt will appeal to the youngest visitors. In addition, there will be a succession of temporary exhibitions paying tribute to different styles, authors and themes, including François Bourgeon, Marvel, science fiction (in 2025) and, currently, "Croquez! la BD met les pieds dans le plat".
