The Fort Royer oyster farming site, a timeless break to discover Oléron, its traditional trades, its ancestral heritage and the authentic flavours of its dear pearly molluscs! The site of Fort-Royer is a century-old village of wooden oyster huts scattered among the oyster beds and channels. This authentic estate can be visited by following a guide who will show you how oyster farming works, from the traditions to today's profession, from breeding in the oyster beds, to maturing in the oyster beds to working in the huts. The association proposes an outing to the rocky coast of Oleron. At low tide, the foreshore reveals its treasures: seaweed, crustaceans, anemones, shellfish... A responsible discovery of the coastline to understand this particular ecosystem and the need to protect it. And for the more curious, a taste of seaweed while watching the sea rise... A circuit on the plants of the dune and the salt marshes is also proposed to those curious about nature during a short storytelling walk. Unusual! Treasure to be devoured" treasure hunt! Six loops to discover the oyster and oyster farming, the flora and fauna of the seaside, the heritage of the site and the coastline, the lair of the witch ROYA and a treasure hunt: riddles to solve, clues to find, routes to identify... Adventurers will have to observe, memorise and show their ingenuity. For children (school holidays) From Monday to Friday, at 3pm (or 5pm in summer) during the guided tour of the oyster farm, the association welcomes 6-12 year olds for a fun workshop on oyster farming, shellfish and seaside plants. Two small souvenirs are made for each participant (5€).
