Nestled on its promontory, Talmont-sur-Gironde stands facing the sea. Discover this fortified city classified as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France", "Small city of character" and "Village of stones and water". On the banks of the Gironde estuary, 15km south of Royan, we invite you for a walk through the cobbled streets of Talmont-sur-Gironde, a typical village full of charm. From the small port, take the path to the remains of the Tour Blanche and head for the 12th century Romanesque church of Sainte-Radegonde. Take the time to lose yourself in the narrow streets decorated with hollyhocks, linger in the village square with its hundred-year-old lime tree and stroll through the craft shops. The Church of Sainte-Radegonde on the cliffside: Perched on its promontory, the church dominates the village. Discover its architecture: its chevet and its north portal with its sculpted decoration make it an essential jewel of the Romanesque art of Saintonge. From the marine cemetery, admire the view over the estuary and the cliffs of Meschers-sur-Gironde. Walks along the estuary: After a diversion to the museum, you can walk along the marked paths that wind between vineyards and marshes. At the edge of the cliffs, magnificent views of the estuary and the "carrelets" are available to you. Embark from the ports of Royan or Meschers and discover the Gironde estuary. From your cruise boat, observe the cliffs, the troglodytic caves of Meschers and the building of the Saint-Radegonde church from the top of the ramparts.
