This route takes in the Romanesque heritage and the Saintonge Viticole countryside near the Vélorail. Saint-André-de-Lidon is a pretty village with a Romanesque church, museum, shops and restaurant. The church of Saint André belonged to the Priory of Saint-Eutrope de Saintes until the French Revolution. It was destroyed during the Wars of Religion in the 16th century. The nave and choir were rebuilt. Numerous elements of medieval origin can be seen, including the 13th-century southern chapel, the last surviving example of this period. The museum is based on Gabriel DIEU's personal collection of all kinds of objects from previous centuries, used by the "Lidonnais" in prehistoric times and on local farms in the 19th and 20th centuries. Along the way, between hamlets, meadows, fields, woods and vineyards, you'll see a windmill, wells, old renovated stone buildings and many small heritage features. This trail has 2 loops, a 2.7km loop to the north and a 10km loop to the south. You will also have the opportunity to cross the Saintonge vélorail linking Saint-André-de-Lidon to Cozes and Gémozac, passing through a number of villages.
