Guided tour from June to September. Fort Lupin, completed in 1689, is one of the major elements of the defensive system to control and defend the access to the Naval Dockayrd of Rochefort. Vauban had developed a small fort combining the advantages of a semi-circular low battery that carried out grazing shots in the chains of the ships and a tower which allowed for diving musketeer shootings to sweep ship's decks. Classified "Historic Monument", Fort Lupin is a private property and can only be visited during scheduled guided tours.
