Discover the elegant town hall of Sireuil and its church, then enjoy the peace and quiet of the banks of the Charente before taking a trip to the heart of the Cognac vineyards. 1 Go up the steps of the town hall, a former 18th century dwelling. Walk along the terrace to the left and go down to pass the old wine press and the church of Saint-Orient. Go down to the left into the alleyway that leads to the Charente. Walk along the banks of the river to the right for 1 km. 2 Turn right before the power lines. Notice the wash house as you reach the road. Cross the road to take the Venelle des Amelins opposite. At the end, follow the road to the right. 3 At the fork in the road, leave the road for the white path on the right. Notice the ditches cut into the rock as you go up. 4 Turn right behind the house. Go straight on until you reach the Carrefour de la Croix Chevalière. On the plateau, a magnificent panorama of hills planted with vines offers itself to the walker; on the right stands the bell tower of the church of Saint-Simeux. 5 Turn left. A little further up, turn right onto the path that leads down to the village - the church of Saint-Orient gradually comes into view. Turn right and go through the villages of La Vergne and Chez les Rois. 6 Follow the road to Chez les Rois to the right and immediately turn left into the next street. Cross the D7 to reach the town hall.
