Réserve Naturelle Nationale de Lilleau des Niges

In the heart of the marine bay of Fier d'Ars and the salt marshes of the Ile de Ré, the National Nature Reserve of Lilleau des Niges is home to the most remarkable elements of the natural heritage of the Atlantic coastal marshes: marshes, salt meadows, mudflats, etc. Managed by the LPO, it is home to a fauna and flora specific to these environments and in particular to numerous sedentary and migratory birds. In spring and summer, avocets, stilts, terns, bluebirds, shelducks and harriers set up their nests in the marshes to raise their chicks. In autumn and winter, the mudflats attract a multitude of migrants from the north: geese, spoonbills, plovers, godwits, curlews, sandpipers, etc.
